Visual Arts
Junk Art! Thanks to Fiza for the idea. It has opened my world to creative use of all kinds of found materials, upcycled into creative works of art and craft. Term 2 projects will find students exploring all sorts of possible ways to make art out of 'junk'. It can be flat (2-dimensional) or sculpted. Students have to research their own project idea, come up with a plan, present the plan, and go!
Thanks to Sabine for finding this cool lamp made of pop can openers.

Geography 8B
Grade 8 geography focusses on Human Geography. The demographics of people, where we live, where we come from, where we move to and why.
Computers 6-8
With the ever-changing background and foreground of information and communication technology (ICT) students are introduced to a variety of media constantly! I feel it is important that we learn HOW to learn in this environment, both as individuals and as a member of a collaborative group. During our exploration of Google Sketchup, students had to design a structure with a specific focus in mind. With this goal, individuals had to learn how to use the program. Students learned how to ask questions, use "help" functions or the "instructor" function, and learned to use resources such as youtube and google to get answers.
After student presentations, we will reflect on our strategies and move on to basic programming!
