Hi Jasmine, Thanks for checkin out the website and being the first official student to use it! Microscopes use lenses (like the lenses in a pair of glasses or a magnifying glass) and they bend the light just enough so that you can see things that are very small. So small that we call them microscopic. When we put the milk on the glass slide, it was just a thin layer of milk. The light from underneath lit up the milk and then you can see all the shadows of the milk fat suspended in the water part of the milk. Hope this answers your question!
