Modern Art:
Your project will be to choose a famous artist from the past or present and do the following:
When you are finished your research, attempt to remake a copy of a chosen piece by the artist. Use pencil shading, pencil crayon, or even paint to make your version replica. You could use the grid method or even tracing. Get a feel for the detail, the level of difficulty, and develop a sense of how spectacular the original artwork is!
- Explain why you chose this particular artist. What makes them stand out to you and what makes them interesting?
- Research this artist and write a short biography on her/him.
- Find 3-5 works of art from this artist and write a description of the art (What is it a picture of? Describe the colours, lines, and overall image and feeling the work gives you) Also, describe what you think the art might tell us about the artist/the community/culture at that time.
- Is there a specific name for the type of artwork such as Cubist, Surrealist, or Impressionist work? What is special about the technique used to create this piece?
