Read about this in the North York Mirror! Love the Page Program and Youth Arts that are for grade 7&8 and 12-18yrs respectively. There are application requirements and deadlines so it would be good to check the site in August to prep, at latest September!
Wow, found this amazing website that is free! The group who runs this is a non-profit that simply wants to revolutionize how we learn science and math, how teachers teach, and textbook resources, videos, simulations, and examples in a free online flexible "textbook".
You really have to see for yourself and spend a bit of time browsing the site. I created an account and set up assignments. You can invite students to participate in the assignments and view their progress through the work. Seems to include a wide variety of media as mentioned above. I came across this by chance while looking for something for my grade 7s. What a great little place for young ones, parents, and teachers!! The site has learning videos as well as a little hands on activity. You can also download the script for students to follow along.
Finally I found an easy site to create my site!!! Truly user friendly and FREE! All drag and drop formatting that I figured out myself without having to do any "how to" searches.
We'll see how easy or time-consuming it is to manage. One thing i did to decrease my emails and comment pages that I would have to read through constantly is to have ONE page for questions. I am currently trying out having all Questions sent to my email for approval before posting (except for my teacher resource pages!) We'll see how that goes. Although I am currently obsessed with getting this up and running, I don't think I can keep this up every night! |
